Xerox Self-Erasing Paper

Some documents are so secret you’ve got to keep them safe from even yourself, and that’s why Xerox invented self-erasing paper. The info fades away after 24 hours, so only your photographic memory can keep the info locked in. This is all due to a molecule that creates the print under ultraviolet light and then readjusts after 24 hours or under heat to make it disappear.

This paper is still under-going research at Xerox’s Palo Alto Research Center.

Working with the computer is now taking a new turn, as you will no longer need to move your hands away from the keyboard to use the mouse. With Microsoft Wearable Mouse concept that utilizes gyroscopic technology, all you need to do is to wave your hand like a magic wand, and the cursor on your screen will move.

The idea behind the patent, which was filed way back in 2006, is that you wear this mouse on your hand and then it can translate your hand movements into cursor movements. The mouse is activated when you make a fist, and then the left and right mouse buttons are activated by your thumb.

INBED: The 2D Virtual Girlfriend

Monday, May 19, 2008

Are you lonely and don't have a girlfriend? Do you want an imaginary girlfriend to sleep beside you on your bed? Then INBED seems to be your ideal bedmate. Though this sounds spooky enough to me, if you are really lonely and need to have somebody lying beside you, then you don’t need to look further.

INBED works by having a projector on the ceiling beam an image of a lady down in that empty space on a double bed.

What makes the INBED impressive is that it has infrared sensors that can detect the position of the live person in bed, and adjust the virtual person accordingly. In other words, the virtual girlfriend will adjust her position to snuggle with you, spoon with you if you lie on your side, and even react to kisses by burying her face in a pillow.

I have a feeling somebody out there is lonely and in dare need of a companion, real or imagined. Will this fulfill the desire for a real or 3D girlfriend? Well, as the saying goes, 2D girlfriend is better than none.

Enviromentally Friendly Lingerie With Solar Panel

Thursday, May 15, 2008

Now we are in the age in which nothing surprises us again. But when it comes to the issue of solar bra, one is still caught unawares. An environmentally-friendly lingerie may be something you need to spice up your imagination. If it looks good, then lets wear it.

The eco-friendly Solar Power Bra integrates a whole lot of green into one complete sexy package. Aptly colored with a green shade, the Solar Power Bra features a waist-mounted solar panel which powers a small, chest-mounted electronic billboard, or pretty much any other gadget you feel like modding onto the bra.

Not to be outdone in other eco-friendly categories, the bra even offers a pair of reusable drinking cups (no pun intended), which not only offers a way for the wearer to reduce the amount of aluminum cans and plastic bottles they use, but also adds to the woman’s (or man’s, if you’re into that sort of thing) bust size. These reusable containers can be hidden away in a special pocket on the bra’s cups.

A time will come and has come when we will start wearing disposables clothes and shoes. Who wants to wash clothes and pollute the eco-systems with chemicals?

Jupiter: World's Most Expensive Desktop Computer

Wednesday, May 14, 2008

This is it. Now you've got a very good reason to be extravagant. That is, if you really can afford it. Can you shell out £375,000 on a desktop PC? I can hear you say "Not if it is gold-plated". I can assure you this one is more than gold-plated.

Dubbed Jupiter, the desktop PC’s case is solid platinum with diamonds that have been arranged to mimic astrological constellations. It would be a pretty rough deal to pay all that money and get no working innards though, so Zeus, the manufacturer, also chucks in Intel’s 3GHz E6850 Core 2 Duo CPU, 2GB of DDR 2 memory and a whopping 1TB hard drive.

A gold model is also available £280,000. It also has diamonds in its case and the same technical specifications. With this model you can save some cash.

Starry Night Sleep Technology: A Gadget Lover's Bed

Beds are originally meant to be a place of sleep or rest, where you shut your eyes and blank out to the world of dreams. A typical gadget lover wants more out of his bed. In between the time of wakefulness and shuteye, a geek will want to play with his gadgets. The Starry Night Sleep Technology Bed offers more than a sleeping place for the gadget lover.

The Starry Night Sleep Technology Bed includes wireless internet connectivity, an iPod docking station and a plethora of surround sound audio treats, including four 9in sub-woofers. But, rather than simply building an LCD TV into the foot of the bed, the Starry Night has a wall-facing 1080p LCD projector integrated into its headboard to provide a 6000:1 contrast ratio and 2000 lumens of brightness.

One other cool thing about this bed is that the bed's sides rise automatically to stop snoring, and drop back when the snoring stops. You can also adjust temperature for separately for each side of the bed. I tell you, this is the type of bed I like to sleep on.

The bed is available in the range of $20,000 to $50,000 with the mattress.

Bug Bat: Electrocutes The Annoying Insect

Monday, May 12, 2008

This Bug Bat gadget had me really smiling to myself. Sure it is payback time to those stubborn insects that make it their pleasure to annoy you. Insect of just killing them, just electrocute them. Sweet revenge!

Whether you are cooking in the kitchen or relaxing in your veranda, you are sure to have insects making some zing zang around you. Sometimes it is too much bother attacking them with insecticides or brooms. Just have some fun while they roast.

Each time a bug carelessly flies or touches the “strings” of the Bug Bat, it will most definitely go straight to insect heaven as your ears pick up the electric crackle of death.

If you are feeling sporty and want to go insect-hunting, you can pick up this nice gadget for less than $20. The excitement you will get out of it will make the cost insignificant. It is time to read your environment of those disease-carrying bugs.

It's simple to use - when a fly or mosquito is annoying you, you flick the switch on the racket handle to on, and go hunting. When you’re ready to strike, you depress the button on the handle to instantaneously arm the racket strings and swing the racket, much as your granddaddy might have swung a rolled-up newspaper.

If you touch the fly or mosquito with any part of the racket face during your swing, then ... POW!!!!! The most satisfying aspect of hitting your target, apart from ridding the world of an unwanted pesky insect, is the noise - the sound of a kill generated by the zap is incredibly satisfying, particularly if the little blighter has been tormenting you for hours.

Coming complete with a wireless 2.5GB hard drive, USB Hub, a tiny LCD screen with 4 button navigation and input, and 1 GB of flash memory, the PORTA2030 performs what its creators call “portable data sensing-storage-transmission” as it not only captures video streams in real time but also plays MP3s for its user to enjoy.

It's a nice gadget for field workers or security personnel who need to monitor in real life what's happening to other members of the team. Each Porta2030 is assigned a unique IP address for wireless transmission to a central hub.
